  Dr. Soltankhah's Visit to IUST

  December 16, 2012 marks the visit of Dr. Nasrin Soltankhah's, Vice President of Research and Technology, visit to Iran University of Science and Technology during its research week to observe the latest technological advances of IUST.

  She began her visit by paying respects to the Unknown Martyrs section, and later moved to visit the Neural and Aerospace research centers.

 The Neural Engineering team presented the neural prosthesis project, the creation of the "Euro Walk" built for the standing and walking of people with spinal cord injury, SCI. This project, which was made possible by the support of the country's vice president of science and technology, initiated in 2010, has so far been successful on a laboratory scale. It is currently under the process of building its semi-industrial model. The technology has been under the monopoly of the United States until recently.

 Officials including Dr. Soltankhah, and the accompanying delegation, Dr. Khiam Nekoyee, vice president of technology and innovation, Dr. Fazeli, head of air and space, and Parviz Karami, science and technology advisor to the vice president, Dr. Bolandi, IUST head of Space and Research Center, and members of the university council visited the Aerospace Research Center and the Navid Satellite Station. IUST researchers had been successful to design and build the national IUST Navid Satelite, which was launched into space in 2011.

 The ceremony went on to honor IUST researchers for their efforts throughout the past academic year.

 Dr. Kiana Shahzamani, chair to the national elite foundation, in a speech praised the accomplishments of IUST. She urged for the continuation of research and hard work for the country's success.

 Dr. Jabal Amoli, in addition to welcoming the guests added, "Ten years ago, our concern revolved around knowledge production, today the country's scientific path has greatly advanced to areas of Science and Technology." Dr. Jabal Amoli referred of three technological fields, Neural, Composite, and Aerospace, and suggested that the current issue of the day lies in areas of management and conduct, and should be addressed on a national basis.

 Dr. Mohammad Hassan Baziar, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology, also gave a report about the 830 published university faculty articles in the ISI 2012 journal.

 The ceremony ended with honoring top researchers from each school and department.
